To breathe new life into their tiny kitchen while looking to capitalize on storage and countertops in a compressed food-preparation space. Looking to find a new home for appliances—tucking them away and providing better overall functionality. Wanting to keep the current sink and dishwasher location to conserve on budget. Seeking a new kitchen design that encourages cooking and entertaining to happen simultaneously.
Expanding the opening made for a better transfer space from the L-shaped kitchen to rest of the main floor of this home. The refrigerator is now accommodated in floor to ceiling cabinetry that minimizes how it bites into the useable floor space. This new section of cupboards also includes extra counter space for a coffee nook. LED pot lighting controlled on a dimmer switch delivers the right amount of light for any time of day. Pantry storage was accommodated with a corner carousel and rollout drawers hidden behind cabinet doors. All finishes were sourced with functionality and budget in mind. Continuous flooring adds comfort under foot and full height wall tile provide longevity to this kitchen.
A revitalized, and compact design maximizes the functionality and esthetic of this kitchen. Built-in appliances and additional storage help in creating an optimal work space. The glossy navy uppers become the commanding feature of the room without overpowering the overall upscale vibe. Backsplash with a rippled shinny finish and the warmth of honey-coloured butcherblock countertops not only provide an interesting juxtaposition, but also a great complementary contrast to the blue cabinets. Eye-catching colour and clean-lines on a budget, become a spectacular upgrade to this garden home.
